The Virginia Aquarium is great fun for the whole family. It’s located close to the Virginia Beach oceanfront and contains amazing indoor exhibits as well as a beautiful outdoor walkway by the water.
2. Virginia Zoo
The Virginia Zoo is located near downtown Norfolk. Like the aquarium, the zoo is fun for the whole family. It includes a petting zoo, a large reptile house, and a train ride through the zoo for an additional charge.
3. Virginia Beach Oceanfront
We can’t forget the beach, of course! Whether you want to relax on the sand, swim in the ocean, walk the boardwalk, or play sports, the oceanfront has something for everyone. There is even a great playground your younger kids will enjoy. Along with all of the other fun things about the oceanfront, it is also lined with great restaurants and shopping.
4. Children’s Museum
The Children’s Museum of Virginia is located in Portsmouth. This museum will have your kids occupied for hours. There is something exciting to explore for kids ages 1-11. This is also a great option on a rainy day, since the entire experience is indoors.
5. Busch Gardens
Busch Gardens is an amusement park with fun for the whole family. Along with the typical larger roller coasters and water slides, there is also a toddler zone with a number of rides all for young kids. This is located in Williamsburg, about an hour from the oceanfront.
6. iFLY
iFLY is an indoor skydiving experience. Located right at the oceanfront, this is a fun experience for kids of all ages, even young ones! This is also a great option for a rainy day, as it is indoors.
7. Top Golf
Top Golf is a fun golfing experience that anyone can do regardless of skill or age. Located in the heart of Virginia Beach, this is a great option for a fun-filled afternoon.
8. First Landing State Park
First Landing has a multitude of recreational activity opportunities, such as hiking, swimming, and launching kayaks. There are also camping opportunities at this park. This is a great option for anyone who loves the outdoors.
9. Mount Trashmore Park
This park has fun hikes and playgrounds for kids and families of all ages. Located in central Virginia Beach, it could be a nice place to spend the afternoon or have a quick picnic.
10. Fun Forest
Fun Forest is a large outdoor play area located in Chesapeake. It contains playscapes for kids of all ages, trails to walk, and a large sand pit.
11. DEFY Trampoline Park
Another great rainy day activity, this indoor trampoline park is great family fun.
12. Funville
This indoor play place is great for a rainy day indoor activity. Full of running, climbing, and sliding, your kids are sure to have fun. There are also arcade games to play.
13. Mini-Golf
There are several mini-golf options along the Virginia Beach oceanfront. A few include Pirate’s Paradise, Jungle Golf, and King Neptune’s Mini-Golf.
14. King Neptune Statue
Located at the heart of the Virginia Beach oceanfront, this iconic statue is a must-stop and see while exploring the oceanfront.
15. Plant House Virginia Beach
The Plant House is more than just a storefront of plants and plant accessories. They offer daily classes for all ages and skill levels. This could be a fun day for the family to learn more about planting and leave with your own finished product!
